You who sit down in the High God’s presence, spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow, Say this: “ God , you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!” That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you— under them you’re perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm.
Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day, Not plague that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon. Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left, no harm will even graze you. You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, watch the wicked turn into corpses.
Yes, because God ’s your refuge, the High God your very own home, Evil can’t get close to you, harm can’t get through the door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they’ll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling.
You’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path.
“If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God , “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer,be at your side in bad times. I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party. I’ll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!”
Psalm 91:1-16 MSG
Another good thing that has come out of me being sick for so long Is that I have learned about
- Just put one foot in front of the other
- Don’t think about it
- Don’t think about the end
- Don’t think about how much you’re accomplishing
- Or how much you still need to accomplish
- Not exerting a lot of effort
- just the next step
- And it helps to sit down on the floor if you have little kids (It’s amazing how much better they jive.)
- I use this coping skill if I have had a bad health night
- Or I have to accomplish something when I’m tired
- Or a trial is lasting a lot longer than I signed on for
The steel of greatness is forged in the pit. It’s true of all of us.
Chuck Swindoll, Paul: A Man of Grace and Grit.
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord ,
and who meditates on his law
day and night.
That person is like a tree planted
by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers.
Psalms 1:1-3 NIVUK
Getting sick has been the best thing-worst thing
in my life;
in my children’s lives,
in my marriage.
A wise woman once said to me,
It is good for the things that can be shaken
To BE shaken.
Another wise woman once said to me after my first husband left me,
This’ll either make ya or break ya
Isn’t it just like our Father to take something evil
and use it for good?
