Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. II Corinthians 7:9‭-‬10 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/2co.7.9-10.NKJV

I was reading a daily devotional at my Youversion.

Joyce was sharing about her negative experience with Christian counseling.

I have heard similar stories from Beth Moore, and my almost mominlaw lady.

I am thinking about this with Jesus. Asking Him for wisdom. It says ask freely for wisdom and He gives it without favoritism or stinginess in the book of James, right?

You know what I think?

I think that my own scary-hurtful experiences with counseling or Bible School or churches were the leading of God 🙏 too. (Not just the wonderfulwarmfuzzylifechanging experiences with those things.)

Turn my face to the 🌞

So instead of vowing never to trust a Bible school\counselor\church\friend again… I’m gonna turn it around. Reframe it. Reboot my ❤️.

Thank you God. You know about religious abuse and meeting the enemy where you expected to meet a safe friend. People are often messed up. Including me. No one gets to be immune to that. No one.

Except You. I Love You. I trust YOU to be the one thing that is right in my crazy, upside-down world.

Toxic family

I love that Jesus teaches me how to think about well-meaning but toxic folks.

He modeled it.

And the people became offended and began to turn against him. Jesus said, “There’s only one place a prophet isn’t honored—his own hometown!”

And if anyone doesn’t listen to you and rejects your message, when you leave that house or town, shake the dust off your feet as a prophetic act that you will not take their defilement with you.

Our marriage(s)

God, our marriage is hitting a rough patch.

I think we’re not the only ones. This pandemic thing is kickin’ our collective butts! (And for me maybe some midlife stuff too.)

I want to pray some stuff for us.

Fish 🐟 or cut bait.

Papa I claim this verse for my marriage. Our marriages. Psalm 🙏 20:1

And these verses too.

I’m counting on You Jesus. Fix our marriages. We need You.

Help us see one thing we can do to respect our hubbys or love our wives TODAY.

Crown us with life.

Show us the way of escape that You have made ready for us.

Give us perspective.

Give us heavenly aid. Details of angels.

Lead us not into temptation. Deliver us from evil.

Yours is the glory and power forever.

Amen.

Find it.

On a hunt.

Jesus.

All this apocalyptic stuff has made me cranky and self focused.

Give me a chance to do good in my world today.

Just something small but valuable.

Like a pearl.

Show me.

Help me look outside my anxious concerns.

See a way to surprise us all, not least myself,

with wonderful-ness.
