I just returned from a marriage retreat. I was thinking about my auntie’s advice to “get somewhere we can sleep and sleep and talk and eat and sleep.”

Sounds like what God did for Elijah.

After his huge showdown with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel.

Such a good Father. ♡ He knows we are vulnerable and dependent and of finite resouces.

This encouraged me.

The things I focus on

  • I love my world.

Not everything.  Im not blind.

But the things I focus on.

A few things I love about my world:

  • Dishes clinking as they are warshed. (Mom’s word) 
  • the sound my heater makes when it comes on
  • My grandmas: I remember such lovely things
  • Stove top popcorn. The smell!
  •  Cooking with fresh herbs
  • up early. Kids asleep still. Hubby gone to work. Sermon playing on my phone.
  • Dishes washed.
  •  Counters wiped.
  •  Breakfast (banana oatmeal nut cookies) baked.
  • daisies
  • Crackling fake fireplace (thank you R)

      Thank you dearest FatherGod for letting me experience these.

      I have a problem with phone games.
      It started out three years ago as the fastest way to kill time and stave off boredom. 

      But now it has evolved into a go-to when I feel bad a way to escape unpleasantness.

      I have MS.  Most of the lesions are in my brain and a few in my neck. I was diagnosed about 3 years ago. 

      As a result, my life has changed dramatically, suddenly and rather unpleasantly.

       I am a person who likes to get things done. Now I spend an awful lot of time in bed or in my chair. I miss my garden so much it hurts!  This trial is getting reeeaaaally looooong. I admit to a good amount of anger with God and myself.

      now even writing this blog I have had to nod off in my chair three times so far! It’s humbling.

      My children say that their new mom is way more chilled out and relaxed. They like the way I have had to change, no, the way God Has Changed Me as a result of getting sick. 

      But I was raised to get stuff done. Gardening, canning, cleaning, cooking I was always busy! I would work till I collapsed!

      Now I often feel useless and forgotten. (Though come to think of it, I have had some good talks with my kids and hubby since I got sick.)

      Instead of dealing with my feelings and taking them to God In Prayer… I hide. I guess computer games are my fig leaves that I sew together “to cover my nakedness” like in the garden of Eden.

      Will you pray for me I pray for you, my friend? God has GOT to help me if im gonna get helped.

      There it is.  I have talked turkey. Gobble, gobble.

      My dogs friendly ears and tail (brings new meaning to Mom’s phrase ‘bright-eyed and bushy-tailed”)

      Excellent Energy

       I struggle to have enough energy.  Do you ?

      My youbible devotions brought this up. 

       Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things…..

      ….and the God of peace will be woth you.”(NIV)

       God help me to think good thoughts and act on them that will bring energy to my world today. I ask this in Jesus’ name.

      “Our Father, help us to see the meaningful purpose that you have given us. May we not be drawn in by dramatic situations that cover up what is truly going on in our hearts. Let us see who we truly are and find joy in the purpose that You have given us”

      I like to make lists.

      It’s one of my go-tos when I feel discouraged.

      (Ahem…Like when I look at news sites.)

      God I love this world and I love my life.  I chose this.

      1.  Lace table cloths

      3.  Oatmeal cookies.

      4.  Getting stickers at the doctor’s office with my kids when they were little.

      5.  Making my own playdo. (You’ve got to try this if you ever babysit.)

      6. Big Daddy Weave, Lauren Daigel, and early Beatles

      7.  Clean sheets, clean nightie,  clean self: when I’m tired.

      8.  Pools of golden sunshine.  With cats in them.

      For these things I thank You Lord.
